The Hill Country Home
Builders Association is offering NAHB approved courses leading to certification
as Certified Graduate Builder (CGB) and Certified Graduate Associate (CGA) as
well as Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS) These programs offer an
opportunity to enhance your knowledge of the fundamentals of the building
industry and certify you as an industry professional.

Builders Assessment Review

The first step is to take
the Builder Assessment Review (BAR). This three-hour,
120-question multiple-choice assessment measures your
knowledge in the four core areas of building business
and project management.

*Builder Assessment
Review (BAR): Beginning in 2003, new candidates are
required to take the BAR assessment to determine what
courses they must complete to earn the CGB designation.
Existing candidates who do not take the BAR must
complete nine courses to obtain the designation.

Certified Graduate Builder (CGB) is
an exclusive professional designation designed to
emphasize business and project management skills as the

Graduate Master Builder
GMB
HCHBA Members who proudly carry the GMB
designation:

The ultimate
symbol of the building professional, the Graduate Master Builder (GMB)
designation is for experienced veterans only. Before beginning the GMB
designation process, you must have the CGB designation, the CGR designation, or
the CGA designation with five years of building experience, or ten years of
building experience and have completed three CGB/CGR/CGA courses. GMB courses
are more advanced with in-depth instruction geared for experienced building
professionals.

HCHBA Members who proudly carry the CGA
designation:
Purified LIFE, Linda Redford
The Certified Graduate Associate (CGA)
certificate program offers associate members an
opportunity to enhance their knowledge of the
fundamentals of the home building industry. The CGA is
modeled after the Certified Graduate Builder’s
comprehensive curriculum of 21, six-hour courses
delivered through licensed state and local home builder
associations. The CGA designation is attained by
completing three required and three elective courses,
and it is maintained by completing one course annually
and paying a $50.00 annual renewal fee. The required
courses are: Introduction to Business Management,
Customer Service, and Sales & Marketing.
